Pakistan is aiming to win the second test against England. Mahmood Azhar

During his post-first Test media conference, Azhar Mahmood acknowledged that the Pakistan team had hoped for more spin but that the pitch had not produced the necessary turn.

“Until the very last day, the ball did not spin as much as we had anticipated.” We’re hoping that the ball will act differently this time around,” he remarked.

Mahmood explained that top player Babar Azam had not been dropped but had instead been given rest in response to a question concerning his absence from the Test squad against England.

“The player we like best is Babar.” He was merely taking a nap, not being dropped. In addition to Babar, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi were also placed on leave by the selection committee, Mahmood clarified.

No matter how strong a player may seem, persistent problems can take a mental toll, so it was vital to give Babar and Shaheen a respite. He brought attention to the mental toll that players have been suffering in recent months.

The assistant coach also emphasized the significance of player fitness in advance of the team’s impending excursions to Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Australia.
