Pakistan observes Defence Day at its embassy in Brussels.

In honour of the brave armed forces that have protected the nation from foreign invasion and continue to bravely and resolutely defend its sovereignty, the Pakistani Embassy in Brussels held a sombre ceremony to mark Defence Day.
The Holy Quran was recited to start the occasion, and then Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari gave their speeches.
Numerous members of the Pakistani diaspora, journalists, community leaders, Belgian nationals, and defence attachés attended the occasion.
Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Pakistan’s ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg, spoke to the audience and emphasised the significance and history of September 6. “Defence Day is a symbol of the nation’s unity, resilience, and unwavering commitment to defend the homeland, as well as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the 1965 war,” he said.
The envoy underlined that the day celebrates the valiant troops who gave their lives in defence of Pakistan and confirms the country’s determination that defending itself is still a sacred and paramount responsibility.
The martyrs of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, who accepted martyrdom while defending the country, and the heroes of Marka-e-Haq, whose bravery foiled the enemy’s plans, were also honoured during this year’s commemoration. To recognise their tremendous sacrifices, there was a one-minute silence.
A special prayer for Pakistan’s advancement and prosperity as well as the ongoing health and strength of its military forces marked the end of the ritual.
