Pakistan will equip the whole nation with contemporary weather radars
The specifics state that 300 automatic weather stations and three portable surveillance radars will be placed in various cities across the nation, along with five fixed surveillance radars spread across several regions.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Cherat, Dera Ismail Khan, Quetta, Gwadar, and Lahore will receive the five fixed surveillance radars, while Karachi currently has a working radar station.
Nationwide deployment of 300 automatic weather stations and three portable radars is also planned. There will be 35 stations in Punjab, 85 in Sindh, including Karachi, 75 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 105 in Balochistan.
In the meanwhile, the project will be finished in three years at a cost of Rs 14 billion ($50 million), with aid from international specialists and local engineers, according to Director General Sahibzad Khan. The technology, funded by the World Bank, would provide rapid insights into climate change.
