Petition against CM Gandapur accepted by ECP
Following the preliminary hearings, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) approved the petition to disqualify Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and scheduled the full hearing for March 26.
KPK’s chief minister received a notification from a two-member bench of the Election Commission made up of Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Shah Muhammad Jatoi.
The panel ordered the DI Khan District Election Commission to provide a report by March 26 on the claims of Gandapur’s wealth concealment and the fraudulent assertions made about 735 kanal land in the nomination papers.
735 kanals of land in DI Khan had been temporarily transferred to Ali Amin, the bench was informed during the preliminary hearing on the case submitted by Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) Kafeel Nizami.
The written judgment states that Ali Amin obtained a Land Cruiser vehicle by selling the same land, which disqualifies him from the Provincial Assembly seat on the grounds of false statements. The written decision is based on the asset data that Ali Amin gave in 2020.
It is noteworthy that a petition against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister for allegedly hiding assets was received by the Election Commission.
The application was submitted by Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) Kafeel Nizami, who claimed that Ali Amin Gandapur had made fraudulent claims in the nomination papers about his property.
He said, “Ali Amin Gandapur is no longer Sadiq and Amin,” by doing this. The petition asked the ECP to remove Gandpur from his position as chief minister.
