PHC directs the name of Asad Qaiser to be removed off ECL

The name of Asad Qaiser must be removed off the exit control list (ECL), under a judgement from the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

Asad Qaiser’s name was taken off the exit control list by the bench made up of Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah during the hearing on the petition submitted to have the former speaker’s name removed from the ECL.

Furthermore, on June 23, 2023, the court ruled that the decision incorporating Asad Qaiser’s name into the ECL was unlawful and unconstitutional.

When Asad Qaiser, the former speaker of the National Assembly, arrived in court, his attorney, Moazzam Butt Advocate, said that Qaiser had been prohibited from paying Umrah. Arshad Ali Advocate also appeared in the case.

Judge Asadullah asked: When did Asad Qaiser’s name get added on the ECL? The attorney indicated that on June 23, his name was added on the ECL.
