PIA asks SAEP for an explanation regarding the “unauthorised” presser.
SAEP President Abdullah Khan Jadoon was given notice by PIA management after he organized a press conference without first getting permission from the airline’s management.
Any media appearance must be approved in advance by the appropriate authorities, according to the notice, which was sent under the directives of PIA’s Chief HR Officer.
In accordance with the notification, Abdullah Khan Jadoon has three days to respond; if he doesn’t, further action may be taken.
PIA had already released a statement refuting the SAEP’s allegations that ten aircraft engines had been sold at low prices.
According to a PIA representative, the accusations made by the recently elected SAEP body were “regrettable.”
The spokesman explained that the sale of ten airplane engines at reduced costs is untrue. He went on to say that the engines in question are completely “inefficient,” and that a tender is being used to sell them while adhering to all applicable laws.
The representative emphasized that the aviation industry routinely sells decommissioned engines while adhering to all applicable public procurement regulations. The proceeds from this transaction will be utilized to buy airplane replacement components.
“All dues and pensions are being paid promptly to both current and retired employees,” the representative continued, adding that PIA’s provident funds and pension have already been transferred to PIA Holding Company. Due to Supreme Court decisions, PIA has been implementing a hiring freeze since 2017, with the exception of certain contract roles that must adhere to SCCP requirements.
