In a meeting held today here, the Standing Committee on Aviation of the National Assembly, the officials revealed this.
Regarding the present state of Pakistan’s aviation industry, the officials gave thorough updates.
Within the Aviation Ministry, there are currently 106 open positions out of the 121 approved positions, according to ministry sources, leaving 15 open.
Details regarding Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) current state were provided to the committee. Its fleet consists of 34 aircraft, 12 of which are grounded at the moment, according to the officials. There are 22 aircraft in the operating fleet and 13 that are leased outright.
PIA employs 10,323 people, including 7,399 permanent employees, according to the officials’ additional disclosure.
According to the government, the COVID-19 epidemic was the reason of the Roosevelt Hotel’s closure. At $202 per room, the hotel’s rooms were hired out in the year before it closed.
A group of six businesses has been pre-qualified to acquire Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which is important to note at this point.
Based on specifics, the businesses that are part of the pre-qualified consortia will now be able to take part in the PIA bidding procedure.
Led by Federal Privatisation Minister Aleem Khan, the decision was made during the Privatisation Commission Board meeting.
