PM Shehbaz implores automakers to begin producing locally

To support the growth of the country, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday asked the auto industry to begin producing cars locally and export a sizable portion of its output.

In an address to a delegation of automakers and auto components producers, the prime minister urged the sector to adopt the Auto Sector Deletion Policy and join the global value chain.

The current administration is taking steps to increase the nation’s exports, he said the delegation.

The PM was informed of the problems facing the car industry by the delegation, which included Amir Allahwala, a representative of the auto components business, and Ali Jamali, the chief executive officer of Toyota Pakistan.

For the government’s pro-business and pro-investment policies, they were grateful to the prime minister.

Meeting attendees included top officers with important roles, Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Rana Tanveer Hussain, PM’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal, and other federal ministers.
