PM to depart for the World Governments Summit in the United Arab Emirates today

Today (Monday), Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will make a two-day trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, has invited him to make this trip.

In a news release on Sunday, the Foreign Office spokeswoman stated, “The Summit will bring together a large number of Heads of State/Government, global policymakers, and leading private sector figures to discuss the future of governance, innovation, and international cooperation.”

Since taking office in March 2024, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made two trips to the United Arab Emirates.

In keeping with Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening its ties with the UAE and other international partners, a high-level delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and other important cabinet members would accompany him, it was said.

The prime minister will give a keynote speech at the WGS during his visit, outlining Pakistan’s plans for digital transformation, inclusive economic growth, and governance reforms.

In addition, he would interact with the heads of state and government of participating nations, top CEOs of significant global corporations, and attend bilateral discussions with the UAE leadership.
