PMD provides an update on the winter season in Karachi.
As the temperature is predicted to drop by mid-December, Karachi’s winter season will be shorter this year, according to the Pakistani Meteorological Department (PMD).
Details: The experts said that this year’s winter might be shorter than usual. Karachi is currently experiencing abnormally high temperatures—which are approaching 40°C—which has citizens worried about the consequences of climate change.
The demand for drinks and fluids in the city has surged due to the hot season.
Winter in Karachi and around Pakistan is predicted to be warmer than usual, according to reports. Climate change’s effects are emphasized by the winter season’s late start.
While most regions are predicted to see dry weather today, certain locations, including Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, may experience light snowfall and intermittent rain.
In Lahore, however, an emergency notice has been issued due to rising pollution levels. Wearing masks, keeping doors and windows closed, and avoiding exposure to the outdoors are all recommendations made by the Punjab government.
The advisory also warns that local air quality concerns are getting worse as haze from places like Delhi, Amritsar, and Chandigarh is blowing into Lahore with high winds.
