Price drops for cooking oil and ghee in Pakistan: get the latest figures here
The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) announced lower pricing for essential goods like ghee and cooking oil, providing assistance to Pakistan, which has been severely affected by inflation.
Recognising the heightened demand at this time when families get together for special meals and fasting happens throughout the day, governments all around the world frequently lower food prices as Ramadan draws near. Food corporations and marketplaces often run specials and discounts on staple foods in order to accommodate this demand.
In Pakistan, where food costs are at an all-time high, the Utility Stores Corporation is offering a 17 percent discount on a range of brands of detergents, ghee, tea, and cooking oil.
Utility Stores Corporation has verified that this price reduction is separate from the impending Ramadan relief programme, which will only benefit BISP beneficiaries and is set to begin on March 4. This price relief is effective immediately.
As part of this campaign, Utility Stores now carry over ten different brands of oil and ghee, all of which have seen price reductions.
Furthermore, the price of branded tea has been reduced by Rs 110 for 800-gram packets; they are now available for Rs 2085 instead of Rs 2195.
Additionally, prices for several brands of washing powder have dropped by Rs 117, Rs 94, Rs 124, Rs 187 for 6 kg, Rs 124 for 4 kg, and Rs 116 for different pack sizes.
Dishwashing soap has seen price reductions of Rs 161 for 4 kg, Rs 1159 for 998, and Rs 49 for two 500ml packets. A five-pack of soap is now available for Rs 396 instead of Rs 505, a reduction of Rs 109.
