Prime Minister Shehbaz provides assistance for power consumers affected by floods and cancels the collection of August bills.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a significant assistance initiative for individuals devastated by floods, instructing power distribution firms to cease the collection of August 2025 electrical bills in the impacted regions.

The prime minister, presiding over a high-level meeting on the matter, stated that a complete relief package for electricity bills in the affected districts would be prepared and announced following discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He additionally mandated that electricity payments previously settled by flood-affected households for August 2025 shall be reconciled in the subsequent month’s bills.

Shehbaz emphasized the extent of destruction, stating that floods have displaced and impacted millions throughout Pakistan. “During this challenging period, we are exerting every possible effort to alleviate the suffering of our populace,” he added.

The prime minister underscored that federal and provincial entities were thoroughly involved in rescue and restoration efforts. “We shall not cease until every flood victim has returned to their residence,” he declared.
