PTA cracks down on unauthorised tampering of IMEIs

Mobile phones, DVRs, and other devices were seized as part of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s crackdown on unlawful IMEI tampering and cloned phones.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and the PTA Zonal Office in Abbottabad conducted a joint operation in Haripur, searching sites at Mochi Bazaar and GT Road. Mobile phones, DVRs, and other things were seized during the raid.
Three individuals were taken into custody at the scene and turned over to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, according to the PTA spokesperson. The usage of cloned mobile phones and IMEI manipulation are threats to national security.
