PTI and government teams will restart talks amidst “hopes and hypes.”

A third session of negotiations between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is scheduled for today (Thursday), following a “considerable delay.”

The final meeting, which was intended to let the two parties start talking about some issues, took place on January 2.

GOHAR BARRISTER’S STANCE

Barrister Gohar, the chairman of the PTI, announced on Tuesday that the party would submit its written requests at the third round of negotiations on Thursday.

Outside the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar told reporters that he was hopeful the government will give their demands careful thought.

“We can find answers to any problem if we approach it with honesty, compassion, and good intentions. For two years, we have been suffering as political prisoners. People are being imprisoned without being given bail. “Their release is crucial for democracy and justice,” he declared.

Gohar claimed that Imran Khan, who has done nothing wrong, has been the victim of numerous false accusations. Since he is a political prisoner, his release is now required.

Ayaz Sadiq Summons’s appointment

The third round of the meeting was called by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq last week. To continue the efforts at reconciliation, the two parties will come together once more.

Rumors had already circulated that the PTI delegation’s meeting with Imran Khan to discuss the next steps had been delayed, putting the talks between the two major political parties on hold.

To open the door for the restart of stalled negotiations, the NA speaker, who is in charge of the negotiation process, reportedly let PTI leaders meet with the jailed founder.

According to Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the PTI team’s focal point, they have given the government until January 31 to conduct a judicial investigation into the incidents that occurred on May 9 and November 26. Prevarication on the matter might endanger negotiations, he said.

TALK CONNECTS WITH ROADBLOCK

Following the second session of negotiations, the government’s conversation process with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf appeared to have reached a snag.

After the PTI failed to present the written requests, the meetings, according to sources, remained inconclusive. Ayaz Sadiq, the NA Speaker, then failed to call the dialogue committee’s meeting.

According to Asad Qasier, the PTI leaders’ remarks from the earlier sessions should be taken seriously when it comes to the written requests. The “real stakeholders and powers that be” should be included in the government committee, he said.

However, if the PTI did not put its demands on paper, Senator Irfan Siddiqui warned that the negotiations would be in danger.

Sources stated that after viewing Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, the PTI would decide on the charter of demands.

Ayaz Sadiq apologized for the accusations made by PTI leaders and defended his position as a mediator between the main opposition party and the government.

The speaker clarified that establishing meetings with the PTI founder was outside the purview of his mandate and responsibilities in response to criticism about his purported inaction in doing so.

“Unfortunately, my role is the target of unfounded criticism. Instead of setting up meetings with the PTI founder, it is my responsibility to serve as a mediator between the opposition and the government,” Sadiq said.

Emphasizing his dedication to democratic norms and parliamentary dominance, Sadiq restated his attempts to serve as an unbiased mediator.

Additionally, Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister’s adviser on political affairs, stated that maintaining communication with the opposition would support the nation’s democratic and political process.

In order to resolve political concerns, he said on a private television channel, political groups in the government should keep talking to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
