PTI cancels Islamabad rally; DC provides new date

According to specifics, the statement that Imran Khan, the party founder, had ordered the postponement of the Islamabad power show was given by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

On September 8, PTI leaders were given the NOC and the deputy commissioner granted permission for the party to hold a rally in Islamabad.

The NOC for the public meeting organized by PTI today was revoked by the Islamabad government yesterday.

At an Intelligence Committee meeting presided over by Chief Commissioner Islamabad, a decision was reached. Permission for the public assembly cannot be granted under such conditions, the district said, adding that religious parties had also called for protests.

On July 24, the Chief Commissioner’s order to cancel the NOC for the PTI public meeting in the nation’s capital was deemed illegal by the Islamabad High Court.

In compliance with the law, the Islamabad government is directed to reevaluate the PTI’s appeal for a NoC by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq in a written order spanning five pages.
