PTI founder cleared the ECP protest case along with others

Yasir Mehmood, the judicial magistrate, declared the decision about the acquittal petitions submitted by the former prime minister and other elected officials.

In the case, Sheikh Rasheed, Asad Qaiser, Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Shehryar Afridi, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Ali Nawaz Awan have all been found not guilty.

The scenario

For opposing the ECP’s Toshakhana ruling in 2022, which barred him from holding office for a short while, the PTI founder and other politicians were named in a lawsuit.

A number of people were injured as protestors threw stones at police and FC officials, according to the first information report filed against the party members.

It added that workers of the defunct ruling party attempted to set fire to Faizabad’s public property, ram police officers with cars, and inflict damage on government property.

Article 63(1)(p) of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf constitution barred Imran Khan, the former prime minister, from the Toshakhana reference, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Preceding the elections on February 8, the PTI founder was found guilty in certain charges and has been incarcerated since August of last year.
