PTI leader Haleem Adil Shaikh’s release is ordered by a court.
In the May 9 riots case, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh was ordered to be released by a Karachi municipal court on Wednesday.
The directive was issued in response to a police report that found no proof of the PTI leader’s involvement in the May 9 rioting.
In order to release Shaikh from the lawsuit, the court mandated that he provide surety bonds totaling Rs 200,000.
On August 30, 2023, as the PTI leader was leaving the Sindh High Court to get an injunction against his potential arrest, he was taken into custody by Karachi police.
Recalling that Shaikh led the opposition in the Sindh Assembly is relevant.
