PTI to appeal the Toshakhana ruling in the IHC: Attorney Ali Zafar
ISLAMABAD According to ARY News, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) declared on Wednesday that it will appeal the ruling in the Toshakhana case against Bushra Bibi, the party’s founder.
The PTI founder’s attorney, Barrister Ali Zafar, said that the accountability court “hurried” to announce the judgement because it knew that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was planning to take the Toshakhana issue to the Islamabad High Court.
He said that PTI attorneys were denied the opportunity to be cross-examined in the Toshakhana case.
The PTI founder’s attorney said that he will file an application for a copy of the NAB court’s decision as well as a motion to the Islamabad High Court to have the Toshakhana case verdict suspended.
An accountability court sentenced the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 14 years in prison on Wednesday in the Toshakhana case.
The PTI founder’s legal problems get worse since the court not only sentenced Khan to a harsh prison term but also barred him from holding any public office for the next ten years. The couple also paid a punishment of Rs1.573 billion as part of the ruling.
After the PTI head was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan last year for making “false statements and incorrect declaration,” the Toshakhana matter became a significant political hotspot in the country.
