Punjab introduces an extensive Public Safety Application offering complimentary access for 30 days.

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced an enhanced version of its Public Safety App, aimed at managing emergencies and supporting vulnerable populations.

The new version, designed with a focus on citizen-centric safety, includes improved capabilities and offers complimentary usage for the next 30 days, following discussions with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This measure is anticipated to assist individuals, particularly those trapped in flood-affected regions.

Comprehensive safety features

The application is the inaugural of its kind in Pakistan, incorporating specialized capabilities for individuals who are blind, dumb, hearing-impaired, epileptic, and those with mental health disorders. Agents specifically trained in sign language are incorporated to support these groups. A distinctive lock screen feature enables users with disabilities to exhibit their medical conditions and emergency contact information, facilitating expedited identification and assistance in crises.

Comprehensive emergency instruments

The app’s primary functions encompass one-tap emergency calling for 15 contacts, live chat, video calling, and location-specific flood alerts. It additionally offers gesture-based SOS alerts, fall detection for individuals with epilepsy, accident and collision notifications, and a Family Circle tool for monitoring relatives. Citizens may report crimes, use virtual blood banks, verify e-challan details, and link with government platforms such as the Chief Minister’s Punjab Portal, IGP Complaint Cell, and Police Khidmat Markaz.

Available to everyone

The Public Safety App, available in English and Urdu, has been created with an inclusive design methodology. The app offers assistance for differently-abled persons and facilitates direct access to emergency services, including the fire brigade, medical assistance, motorway police, and Punjab Highway Patrol. It also implements specialized safety efforts for women, children, senior persons, and minorities, establishing it as a holistic advancement in technology-driven public security in Punjab.
