Railways use contemporary methods to save billions of dollars on electricity.

Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, the Federal Minister for Railways, presided over a crucial meeting in Islamabad to assess the industry’s progress in lowering electricity costs.

During the meeting, it was disclosed that the Railways has saved billions of rupees over the previous eight months thanks to modernization projects including solarization and meterization. These successes were also greatly aided by successful initiatives to reduce electricity theft.

Sukkur Division saved Rs. 60 million, Karachi Division saved Rs. 26 million, Quetta Division saved Rs. 38 million, Rawalpindi Division saved Rs. 75 million, Lahore Railway Division saved Rs. 416.6 million, and Mughalpura Workshop saved Rs. 243 million, according to government estimates. In a similar vein, Peshawar saved Rs. 6.46 million, while Multan saved Rs. 9.6 million.
