Rawalpindi’s security was bolstered before the New Year.
As per a police spokesperson, Divisional Superintendents of Police, SDPOs, and SHOs conducted security checks at local churches on Sunday and provided updates to the police officers stationed there.
He said that in order to protect the safety of the Christian community at churches, the Rawalpindi police have taken stringent steps.
The CPO also mandated that officers patrol their respective regions effectively and that well-equipped officers and plaincloth police officers patrol the areas around public venues and churches.
However, in order to guarantee a secure and tranquil New Year’s Eve celebration, the local government has enforced Section 144 in the city for two days.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South Zone Karachi, recommended it, and Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi issued a notification in this regard.
Aerial firing, the use of firecrackers, and the carrying, exhibiting, and brandishing of firearms were all prohibited.
Section 144 will remain enforced on December 31 (Tuesday) and January 1 (Wednesday). The notification said that strict action would be taken against the violators.
According to the spokesman, authorities also instructed hotels to keep accurate check-in and check-out records of guests and determined to take tough measures against beggars.
