Reopening the old ‘Baoli’ at Rohtas Fort in honor of World Tourism Day

On World Tourism Day, Rohtas Fort reopened the ancient Roshni Baoli (Illuminated Stepwell) to the public.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb made the announcement on Saturday.

According to the senior minister, Punjab’s historical legacy is an essential component of its identity.

Under the “Beautiful Punjab Vision,” the Baoli has been completely repaired and revitalized. “We are restoring and returning these treasures to the public in their preserved form,” she said.

The minister added that the ideal of a “Glorious Punjab” is becoming a reality with the restoration of 101 historical landmarks throughout the state.

She continued, “This initiative reflects our commitment to preserving and showcasing Punjab’s cultural and historical beauty.”

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz mirrored the message on X, formerly Twitter, saying:

“Public access to the old Baoli at Rohtas Fort has been restored. Under the Beautiful Punjab Vision, this unique heritage property is once again shining brightly.

She restated that the location is one of 101 heritage landmarks that have been chosen for restoration, signifying the government’s commitment to protecting Punjab’s past and advancing its cultural environment.
