SC said it believes the government can successfully implement PIA privatization.
The court has faith in the government and expects the privatization process to be executed successfully and correctly, said Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail during the hearing on the PIA privatization issue.
The court was told by the Additional Attorney General that although the PIA administration had previously been permitted to hire fresh experts, the ongoing privatization proposals caused the process to be delayed. The privatization process, however, is now scheduled to start up again.
Furthermore, PIA’s flying operations prohibition was lifted by the court. The Supreme Court had ordered the government to seek the court’s approval before moving on with privatization, Justice Mandokhail explained, and he inquired as to whether the government was following the court’s directive.
