Reports indicate that the restrictions encompass an absolute prohibition on the disposal of debris and waste, as well as the deforestation of mangrove forests inside the district’s limits.

Section 144 has been implemented, according to the notification, to safeguard mangroves and coastal areas from encroachments in Karachi.

Individuals discovered participating in these illicit activities will encounter legal repercussions. According to the announcement, violators will be prosecuted under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The restrictions will be enforced from December 23, 2024, to February 2, 2025.

The measures were enacted at the behest of Deputy Commissioner Kiamari, Tariq Hussain Chandio.

On December 15, 2024, Section 144 was enacted in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for a duration of seven days.

As per details, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Hameed announced the imposition of Section 144 across the district for seven days, effective immediately.

The prohibitions encompassed a prohibition on weapon possession, dual riding on motorbikes, and the utilization of tinted vehicle windows.

The Bannu District Commissioner elucidated that these steps were instituted in relation to the anti-polio campaign.

Throughout October 2024, the Karachi administration enacted Section 144 throughout the city for two days, prohibiting assemblies and demonstrations.

A notification said that the prohibition was enforced on October 18 and 19.

The notification stated that a prohibition was enacted on assemblies of five or more individuals, processions, and public meetings. To uphold legal statutes and guarantee public safety.

The Punjab administration implemented Section 144 throughout the province for two days, commencing on Friday, October 18.

The Punjab Home Department’s order prohibits all forms of protests, processions, and public events during this period.

The government stated that public gatherings and rallies could become soft targets for potential terrorist attacks, prompting the implementation of the ban.

The notification further mentioned that the decision was made to protect law and order, human lives, and property amid growing concerns over security risks.

Also in October, Commissioner Karachi imposed Section 144 on the recommendation of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, citing potential threats to peace.
