SHC wants a load-shedding strategy from KE and electricity generation.

Regarding the load shedding and unscheduled power outages in Karachi during the heatwave by the sole power utility, K-Electric, the court heard a plea of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Abid Zuberi, the lawyer for the electricity company, showed up in court, got notice, and insisted on a copy of the plea, the court noted in its written ruling.

During the heat wave, the counselor begged for time to turn in a report on responsibility.

The court insisted on the K-Electric turning in its plan for load shedding and electricity generation by July 15.

Particularly amid the summer, the JI has begged the court to guide the K-Electric to guarantee a continuous power supply.

“K-Electric’s claim of 71% power feeders as load shedding free in the city has been wrong,” petition said. “The NEPRA has imposed 50 million fine over the company owing to its substandard performance,” said plea.

“Technical flaws also belong to the power supplier, which needs to be corrected.” “The city has been undergoing average sixteen hours load shedding daily.”

“Even two to four hours load shedding now being conducted in the night,” the attorney for Usman Farooqi informed the court.

The petitioner claimed: “This performance of the company affecting the business class of Karachi.”

Respondents for the petition include K-Electric, NEPRA, and the Ministry of Energy.
