Sindh IGP says SHOs will receive a direct budget of Rs4.5 billion for FY2024–2025.
SHOs are becoming autonomous, according to IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, with the direct budgetary allotment.
A lump sum budget was previously given to top officers for police stations, but the new proposal aims to distribute this money straight to the police stations. The Sindh IG stated that the government of Sindh also wants a dedicated budget for the police force.
Memon further stated that the SHOs will now be able to use the budget directly, which will allow for the payment of bills like car upkeep and other operating charges.
Financial difficulties are typically the result of a shortage of funding, which makes it difficult to operate police stations and carry out investigations. “We anticipate some improvement with this solution.”
Moreover, a Rs5 billion package for police welfare was announced by Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon. Part of the objective is to provide Sindh Police with medical services that they did not have before.
Annual medical coverage of up to one million rupees will now be provided to every Sindh Police officer. Their spouses, kids, and parents are also covered, and they can get care at any hospital, according to the chief police officer in Sindh.
Further, according to Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, a long-standing request to replace more than 2,000 police vehicles—some of which have been in service for more than ten years—has been granted.
Over the course of the next three years, this replacement will be done in stages, with a focus on getting new cars to police stations that have the most need.
