Sources indicate that the privatisation of PIA is planned to take place in early August 2024.

Insiders have disclosed that six companies have been selected as finalists for the privatization of the national flag airline.

The firms that have been selected for further consideration have requested specific information regarding PIA and have requested until July to thoroughly examine the financial difficulties of the national airline.

Simultaneously, the authorities are furnishing the necessary information to the consortium of preselected enterprises.

It is important to note that a group of six firms has been pre-qualified for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Based on the information provided, the companies that are part of the pre-qualified consortia will now have the opportunity to take part in the bidding process for the PIA.

The decision was reached at the Privatisation Commission Board meeting, presided over by Federal Privatization Minister Aleem Khan.

Aleem Khan highlighted the government’s dedication to provide a clear and effective privatization procedure for all financially unprofitable state-owned enterprises at the discussion.

In order to provide transparency and instill trust, Khan suggested that the privatization proceedings be broadcasted live on media outlets. This would serve to reassure all parties on the integrity of the process.
