Terrorist assault thwarted at Jhangi checkpoint in Dera Ghazi Khan

Earlier this week, security forces successfully repelled a terrorist assault on the Jhangi check station in the border region of Taunsa Sharif.
A police spokesperson reported that a contingent of 20 to 25 terrorists initiated the assault from many sources, heavily equipped with rocket launchers and contemporary automatic firearms.
The Punjab Police spokesperson acknowledged that the assailants employed advanced weaponry in their attack. The police officers at the checkpoint reacted promptly, engaging in intense gunfire and ultimately thwarting the assault.
“The terrorists were compelled to withdraw as a result of our officers’ prompt and efficient counterfire,” stated the spokeswoman. “In the course of the gunfire, the assailants incurred losses, and we have initiated a search operation in the vicinity to pursue the escaping terrorists.”
The police spokesperson additionally disclosed that the rapid reaction unit had been deployed to the location to assist with the operation and ensure the area’s security. Currently, the gunfire has diminished, although sporadic exchanges transpired throughout the day.
