The AJK body has issued a call for protest against the Presidential Ordinance.
On December 5, the Joint People’s Action Committee once more called for a shutdown strike in Azad Kashmir.
A protest call has been made by the committee against the Azad Kashmir administration’s enforcement of a presidential ordinance.
In a meeting to express disapproval of the arrests in Rawalakot and Mirpur, the Joint People’s Action Committee called for a strike.
The committee demanded that the newly issued presidential ordinance be repealed and that the charter of demands be implemented.
It should be noted that the new presidential regulation forbids protests without first obtaining the administration’s approval.
The residents of Azad Kashmir staged a wheel-jam strike and shutter-down in May of this year to protest for cheaper bread and power.
In Rawalakot, Mirpur, and other parts of the region, all offices, commerce centers, and educational institutions were shuttered in response to the protest.
Additionally, the demonstrators held protests calling for the release of those detained during the events.
