The court prohibits the NAB from managing the Toshakhana case involving PTI founder Bushra Bibi.

An Accountability Court in Islamabad on Monday prohibited the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from advancing the new Toshakhana reference against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi.

The court issued a formal directive, stipulating that the matter has been transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) court.

Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich of the Accountability Court determined that the case is outside the jurisdiction of the NAB following a legal modification, as the suspected corruption amount is below Rs. 500 million.

The case has been assigned to the FIA Special Judge Central, who will adjudicate the bail applications submitted by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

“Pursuant to the revised section 4(d) of NAO, 1999, cases not adjudicable by this court under the amended NAO, 1999 shall, following a review of the record and in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau, be referred to the appropriate court,” the written order stated.

The court mandated that copies of its order be delivered to the Chairman of NAB and the Director General of FIA.

The NAB asserts that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were implicated in the illicit sale of costly things, including luxury watches and diamond and gold jewelry. The NAB also charged the PTI founder and his spouse with unlawfully selling presents that were neither legally owned nor placed in the Toshakhana, as mandated by law.

On July 13, Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi were apprehended in a new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case concerning Toshakhana, mere hours after their exoneration in the Iddat case.

The NAB team, led by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon, apprehended Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail.
