The death of Prince Karim Aga Khan has prompted a three-day period of mourning in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Gilgit-Baltistan government and chief minister, Haji Gulbar Khan, have declared three days of mourning (February 5–7) in response to the death of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan. All government buildings in Gilgit-Baltistan will fly the national flag at half-mast at this time.
In addition, the Chief Minister has honored His Highness by announcing February 6 as a public holiday. He has also ordered that all official events be held in a straightforward manner.
His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan’s extraordinary services were richly praised by Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan in his condolence message. He highlighted his unmatched contributions to humanity globally, particularly in the areas of health, education, humanitarian work, and the preservation of Gilgit-Baltistan’s cultural heritage.
