The government is dedicated to protecting diplomats: Dar

The security of the diplomatic enclave and the red zone is the government’s main priority, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

The deputy prime minister told the Dplomate Corps in Islamabad that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had a violent past and that it was responsible for the current upheaval in the Federal Capital.

The president of Belarus visited Pakistan on November 24 and the government had to welcome him and his entourage, he said, but PTI chose the same day for its agitation tactics.

According to Senator Ishaq Dar, the party leadership convened multiple lengthy meetings to try to alter the protests’ date and venue, but their ill-intentioned actions prevented the change from succeeding.

This year, the government established the Law of Peace and Protection Act 2024, which prohibits such protests in certain areas. However, the PTI leadership disregarded this law and continued to protest in the red zone, according to the Foreign Minister.

According to Dar, the PTI also made up the tale of the 35 punctures in 2013 that claimed electoral tampering, but the investigation found that this was untrue.
