The jail was opened to prevent rallies; why is this not the case now, one may ask? Sheikh Waqas Akram

Sheikh Waqas Akram, Secretary Information of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Member of the National Assembly, accused the government of not facilitating a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss negotiations.

In a media statement, Sheikh Waqas Akram remarked, “Jails were opened to prevent rallies; therefore, why is a meeting with our leader not feasible now?” The government’s failure to meet fundamental demands demonstrates its lack of seriousness.

He asserted that erroneous assertions were being propagated regarding the amenities afforded to Imran Khan in incarceration, declaring, “Imran is confined in a death cell designated for terrorists, devoid of access to newspapers, television, or other fundamental facilities.”

Akram emphasized the breach of court orders, stating, “Notwithstanding judicial directives, Imran Khan is prohibited from communicating with his children.” The government disseminates falsehoods regarding prison conditions on television. While incarcerated, Nawaz Sharif was permitted home-cooked meals, but Khan would not yield to such strategies.

In response to the purported maltreatment of workers, he remarked, “PTI workers in Attock and Jhelum jails endure abysmal conditions, characterized by inferior food and insufficient medical care.” These injustices must cease.

Akram dismissed accusations of clandestine negotiations, stating, “The public has lost tolerance for such contrived narratives.” A committee was established to facilitate discussions and alleviate tensions.

He urged the PML-N to issue an apology for previous assaults on institutions such as the Supreme Court and NAB, advocating for equitable treatment of the former prime minister and party members. “Our emphasis is on justice, not agreements.” He finished by demanding the establishment of a judicial panel to probe these matters.
