The JUI-F chief, Fazlur Rehman, is called by the ECP.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has been called before a four-member bench by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), and he is scheduled to appear by Wednesday.
It was the party’s failure to organize elections within the party and to provide the appropriate certificate to the ECP that resulted in the summons being issued.
The ECP had already removed the electoral emblem of the PTI, which is the main opposition party in the country, ahead to the general elections that were held on February 8, 2024. This is the exact reason why they did so originally.
On Thursday, the case from JUI-P will be heard by the ECP bench, which will be led by Nisar Durrani.
The failure of the party to comply with the regulations of the ECP has given rise to doubts over the validity of the party as well as the potential consequences.
In a separate development today, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) invited Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Amir, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, and Asfandyar Wali Khan, the president of the Awami National Party (ANP), along with other party leaders, to appear before them in a case concerning the distribution of party tickets to female candidates.
The election body has issued a notice to the heads of political parties, including Jamat-e-Islami, the Awami National Party (ANP), the Balochistan National Party (BNP), and the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), as well as ten other political parties, including the Awami National Party (ANP), for failing to allocate five percent of their party tickets to male candidates.
There have been requests made to the heads of fourteen different political parties to appear before the ECP on September 4th, as stated in the summons notice.
According to Section 206 of the Election Act, which is concerned with the distribution of party tickets to female candidates, the notices were distributed.
