The LHC challenges Nawaz Sharif’s leadership of the Punjab government meeting.

Nawaz Sharif, who does not occupy an official administrative post, is not qualified to chair these kinds of meetings, according to the petition submitted by citizen Mashkoor Hussain.

The petitioner claims that on March 18, Nawaz Sharif presided over an administrative meeting of the Punjab government in which ministers received orders pertaining to the Ramazan package among other things, according to a handout distributed following the meeting. The petitioner contended that Nawaz’s participation in administrative affairs surpasses his jurisdiction and contravenes established protocols.

Mashkoor Hussain stressed in the plea to the Lahore High Court that Nawaz Sharif’s involvement in administrative matters is illegal and unconstitutional. In order to keep Nawaz Sharif from chairing any administrative-level meetings going forward, he sought the court to issue an order.

The petitioner’s argument calls into question the degree of political influence in administrative procedures as well as the separation of powers. It emphasizes how important it is to make clear what the obligations of those in political positions but without formal administrative authority are are.

Along with her father, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired an important meeting on March 18 that was centered around improving the province’s transportation infrastructure, including the implementation of metro bus projects in three Punjabi cities and an underground train project in Lahore.

The chief minister underlined during the meeting the importance of planning for the Lahore underground train project and requested a comprehensive plan in this regard. In addition, decisions were taken about the metro bus projects in three Punjabi cities, and thorough briefings were given on a range of transportation-related topics, such as the distribution of student bikes.

In order to lessen the financial strain on students, Nawaz Sharif instructed officials to enhance the quantity of motorcycles available for use by students and make sure that the monthly installments for these bikes are kept to a minimal. He restated that providing financial help for students was the duty of the government.
