The names of Sami Ibrahim and Imran Riaz Khan will be added to the ECL

According to reliable sources, the Federal Cabinet approved the addition of 24 names on the ECL, including those of journalists Sami Ibrahim and Imran Riaz Khan.

The Ministry of Interior started the circulation process that resulted in the decision, which demonstrated the government’s commitment to sustaining legal measures for accountability and national security.

The Federal Cabinet also approved the removal of 22 names on the ECL at the same time. Among them was Babar Awan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), whose listing on the ECL in December 2023 was related to the Al-Qadri Trust case.

After careful consideration and deliberation, the Federal Cabinet approved the addition or removal of names from the ECL based on recommendations made by the Sub-Committee on ECL.
