The PDMA warns of heavy rains, putting Punjab on flood alert.

Due to anticipated heavy rainfall, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority issued a rain alert for the majority of the province’s districts on Thursday, indicating the possibility of flooding in streams and nullahs.

A spokesman for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that westerly winds had moved into Punjab’s northern regions, increasing the possibility of heavy rain starting Thursday evening and lasting until October 7.

In addition to Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, and Toba Tek Singh, rain is predicted in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad.

Rainstorms and thunderstorms are also predicted for Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan from now till October 6.

The PDMA issued a warning that local streams in Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat might experience an increase in water flow. Punjab’s commissioners and deputy commissioners have been ordered to remain vigilant, and departments such as local government, agriculture, irrigation, health, forestry, livestock, and transportation have also received orders.

Citizens were advised by PDMA to refrain from needless travel, adhere to official directives, and assist emergency services and district administrations. Residents can call the PDMA helpline at 1129 in an emergency.
