The PIA CEO is likely to receive a tenure extension.
Aamir Hayat, the current CEO of PIA, is expected to be asked to extend his term during the meeting, according to sources.
Given that Hayat’s term is about to end, the board may choose to provide him an extension. The board may choose to name an interim CEO from among the senior executives if an extension is not approved.
Chief Project Officer Khurram Mushtaq, Chief Operating Officer Amanullah Qureshi, and Chief Technical Officer Amir Ali are the candidates for the acting CEO post.
A proposal to raise PIA workers’ compensation by 20–25% is also anticipated to be discussed by the board, in addition to the CEO’s term.
The prohibition on airline operations, especially on European routes, has resulted in a startling loss of over Rs 220 billion over the last four and a half years, according to a report released by PIA.
Sources inside the Privatization Commission claim that the limitations had a significant effect on the national flag carrier.
The airline’s financial problems were made worse by the COVID-19 epidemic, and the prohibition on PIA flights to European locations had resulted in a large loss of revenue.
Because of the embargo on European routes, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) also lost over Rs 250 billion.
But according to sources inside the Privatisation Commission, work is being done to reopen PIA’s routes to the UK prior to privatisation.
