The PMA opposes the issue of arrest warrants for healthcare workers.
KARACHI: The Returning Officer (RO), PC-110 South, issued arrest warrants for 267 workers of the Sindh Health Department. The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has vehemently denounced this action. Allegedly, these workers neglected to show up for work during the election. The association believes that this action is irrational and unfair.
According to Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro, Hon. Secretary General of the Pakistan Medical Association (Centre), the issuance of arrest warrants is incredibly disproportionate and unfair. The warrants against medical practitioners should be promptly revoked by the relevant authorities.
He emphasises on authorities not to provide healthcare providers election-related responsibilities. The potential effects of this on Sindh’s already overburdened healthcare system worry us greatly.
Dr. Shoro stressed the commitment and dedication of medical professionals to serving the public, saying that they should be respected and given gratitude for their unceasing work. We implore the authorities to handle the situation justly and fairly, keeping in mind the difficult conditions that healthcare professionals endure.
In addition, he made a plea to the government and other pertinent authorities to guarantee the protection, safety, and wellbeing of medical professionals—particularly during these testing periods.
