The Prime Minister advocates for the expedited resolution of the Federal Board of Revenue’s legal matters.
In order to guarantee the early resolution of the tax revenue cases that are now pending trial, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the relevant authorities instructions on Thursday to expedite the Federal Board of Revenues’ (FBR) legal actions.
During a review meeting on accelerating FBR’s legal cases, the prime minister gave the order to engage reputable attorneys to represent FBR in tax revenue issues.
He said that the FBR system was undergoing a rapid overhaul by the administration.
“With Allah Almighty’s grace, the benefits of FBR’s reforms are still being felt,” he stated. He oversaw the forensic audit of tax-related cases as well.
PM Shehbaz pledged to discipline personnel who were shown to have participated in filing cases on flimsy or poor grounds.
However, he stated that police who had built cases on the basis of integrity and diligence would receive particular incentives.
Reputable attorneys were added to the panel at the prime minister’s direction, and as a consequence, from July to December 2024, 586 cases in the High Court and 637 pending cases in the Supreme Court were settled; the meeting was informed.
It was also disclosed to the gathering that there were already 33,522 cases totaling Rs 4.7 trillion pending in different courts and tribunals around the nation.
