The prime minister praises Pakistanis’ involvement in the Sumud Gaza Flotilla.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Pakistani citizens’ “dignified” involvement in the Sumud Gaza Flotilla on Thursday, but he also called for their return because they were stopped en route to Gaza to deliver humanitarian goods.

In a post on X, the prime minister expressed gratitude to Pakistanis who participated in this significant humanitarian effort in line with the values of human compassion, including Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Mazhar Saeed Shah, Wajahat Ahmed, Dr. Osama Riaz, Ismail Khan, Syed Aziz Nizami, and Fahad Ishtiaq.

“This initiative embodies the aspirations of the Pakistani people for peace, their fight for justice, and their generosity toward those in need,” he said.

According to him, the government of Pakistan upholds the values of unrestricted humanitarian assistance, safe access, and respect for human life.

“While praying and working for their safety, dignity, and prompt return to their homeland, the Government of Pakistan…strongly demands the return of its citizens,” he continued.

In a previous post on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz vehemently denounced the heinous assault by Israeli forces on the Sumud Gaza flotilla, which was transporting more than 450 relief workers from 44 nations who were en route to deliver aid to Gaza.

“This savagery must stop. He wrote, “Humanitarian aid must reach those in need and peace must be given a chance.”

He urged for the quick release of everyone who had been unlawfully detained by Israeli authorities and prayed for their safety.

The prime minister said, “Their crime was to carry aid for the unfortunate Palestinian people.”
