“The PTI founder’s release was demanded by Fazlur Rehman.”
Speaking to the media, JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri and PTI spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai said that the current government is not legitimate or supported by the people. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, he claimed, called for the PTI founder’s release and emphasized a shift toward collective struggle against the government.
Speaking about the law passed by the parliament on Monday, JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri claimed that the government had broken earlier agreements. The next actions will be discussed in meetings with other opposition parties after Maulana Fazlur Rehman returns from his trip overseas, he added.
Imran Khan’s cases had to be considered and determined on the basis of merit, Aslam Ghauri continued, adding that there were significant concerns about his protracted confinement. He emphasized how important a fair trial is.
Shortly after PTI leader Asad Qasier met with JUI-F leader Maulana Fazalur Rehman in the federal capital to discuss possible coordinated activities against the government, the demands came flooding in.
Additionally, according to sources, the PTI delegation asked for the meeting on Monday but it was turned down. However, following internal discussions, JUI-F decided to meet on Tuesday.
Both sides discussed starting a unified movement against the government and decided to reactivate current parliamentary committees. They spoke about contacting other opposition parties as well.
If PTI wants to work together successfully in the future, JUI-F said they need to be more serious.
When asked about their future intentions with JUI-F, PTI decided to contact their founder, Imran Khan, and senior cadre. Both parties decided to step up their efforts once Maulana Fazlur Rehman returned from his international tour.
