The Punjab government has increased workers’ minimum monthly wages to Rs 40,000.

Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, the Punjab Minister for Labour and Human Resources, declared that all employees would henceforth be eligible for a minimum salary of Rs 40,000 per month for 26 working days. According to the announcement, an employee who works eight hours a day will be paid at least Rs 1,538.46.
According to the minister, the Labour Welfare Department’s field formations have all been directed to make sure that the wage notification is strictly enforced. He issued a warning that employers and institutions who disregard the law would face a crackdown.
