The season’s lowest temperature is recorded in Karachi.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi is experiencing frigid weather, with Sunday night’s minimum temperature falling to 8.9°C.
In particular, the lowest recorded temperature was 8.9°C at Jinnah Terminal, whilst Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Shahrah-e-Faisal recorded 10.5°C and 11.5°C, respectively.
12.5°C was the measured temperature in Mauri Pur. The city is now experiencing cold and dry weather, with daytime highs of 27°C predicted, according to the Meteorological Department.
The highest temperature on the day before was 27°C as well. With a 50% humidity level, winds are coming from the northeast at 7 km/h.
In the meantime, the city’s air quality is still problematic; particle matter levels on the Air Quality Index (AQI) were 183, which indicates unhealthy circumstances.
Due to the frigid winds from Balochistan, Karachi’s weather has become considerably colder, with temperatures feeling two to four degrees below their true levels.
In the meantime, temperatures had drastically decreased in northern Pakistan.
Leh recorded the lowest temperature of the day at -13°C, followed by Skardu at -7°C, Kalam at -6°C, and Islamabad at -1°C.
Temperatures of 3°C and 7°C were reported in Peshawar, Lahore, and Multan, respectively.
Roads, houses, and trees were buried in snow, while the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan were completely covered by the heavy snowfall.
Additionally, a severe cold wave has affected northern Balochistan, with temperatures in Quetta dropping to -6°C and Kalat and Ziarat to -5°C.
The PMD has warned that the cold wave would continue in many parts of the nation.
In Islamabad and the neighbouring areas, the weather was predicted to stay dry and cold.
