The Senate committee is requesting specific information regarding the agreements made with Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
In an inquiry, the committee requested details regarding the payments made to IPPs from the secretary of Power Division.
The motivations for the payments as well as the identities of the sponsors of all privately owned power plants were also sought after by the Senate Standing Committee on Power.
In the last six years, the committee has requested information from the Power Division regarding the costs associated with the development of wind power facilities and the cost of producing electricity.
All pertinent information has to be sent to the committee by the Ministry of Power.
It has been instructed that the secretary turn up all pertinent documents in three weeks.
IPP consideration has been discussed, according to remarks made earlier by Federal Minister of Energy Awais Leghari.
According to Awais Leghari, there are different perspectives on the subject of independent power producers (IPPs). “What we’re observing is the remaining duration of an IPP,” he stated.
“We are also observing the extent of gain or loss provided by an IPP, the necessary procedure to eliminate a costly power generator, and the associated cost,” stated the minister of energy.
“Is there a cost associated with eliminating the IPPs?” he asked.
