The Sindh government will unveil the 2024–25 budget today.
Presenting the budget at 3:00 pm is Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh who also happens to be the finance portfolio holder.
Sources say that the Sindh cabinet meeting is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. at the CM House. During the cabinet meeting, the proposed budget will be discussed.
A thirty percent pay raise for public sector workers is what the government plans to propose in the 2024 budget, while the Sindh police budget would receive Rs 163 billion.
With a total expenditure of 5.44 trillion for the fiscal year 2024–2025—the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) expressed disapproval when Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtuba Shujaur Rehman presented the province’s “tax-free” budget yesterday.
A Rs 5446 billion budget with a Rs 630 billion surplus was presented to the House by the finance minister. Under the annual development program, he stated, 77 new megaprojects will be initiated.
The Punjab administration has also suggested raising employee pay by up to 25 percent, and increasing retired employees’ pensions by 15 percent respectively. The proposal is for workers to get a minimum pay of Rs 37,000.
He stated that while Rs 3,683.10 billion is anticipated to be paid under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, the estimated total income collection is Rs 4643.4 billion.
