The Supreme Court of Pakistan has deferred today’s planned oath-taking ceremony for seven new judges, rescheduling it for Friday due to delays in formal notifications.
The Ministry of Law and Justice released appointment notices late Friday night for six permanent justices and one interim judge to the nation’s top court. The recent appointments comprise Justices Hashim Khan Kakar, Shafi Siddiqui, Salahuddin Panhwar, Shakeel Ahmed, Amir Farooq, and Ishtiaq Ibrahim as permanent justices.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb has been appointed as an acting judge of the Supreme Court, as per the ministry’s notification.
The postponement of these essential announcements required the rescheduling of the oath-taking ceremony initially set for today. The government has verified that the rescheduled ceremony will occur on Friday.
