Three fatalities occurred when a dumper truck struck kids.

A vehicular collision near Lady Garden, Abbottabad, resulted in the fatalities of three kids and gravely injured five others when a dumper truck struck a group of students from Cantonment Board School as they traversed the road early on Friday morning.

Initial reports identify the deceased as 10-year-old Rehan, 14-year-old Manal, and 13-year-old Sawab. The injured students comprised 5-year-old Urooba, 13-year-old Sawera, 15-year-old Yashfa, and 11-year-old Ehtesham. All the casualties were from Banda Phugwariyan, a suburban area of Abbottabad.

The dumper driver, Mohsin Khan, absconded from the scene promptly following the accident. Police confiscated the truck (registration number TKM-060) and filed a case at Cantonment Police Station under Sections 279, 337, 320, and 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Operations are under progress to apprehend the fugitive driver.

The Rescue 1122 teams transported the deceased and injured to Abbottabad DHQ Hospital, where medical professionals characterized the condition of the injured youngsters as critical.

Sources verified that all the victims were members of the same extended family. Funeral prayers for the deceased were conducted in Banda Phugwariyan, with a substantial attendance of mourners.

Family members and local residents attributed the tragedy to the negligence of traffic police, asserting that despite the presence of numerous wardens along the 7-kilometer Silk Route within the city, large vehicles are frequently permitted to go during restricted hours. Eyewitnesses at the protest location asserted that wardens prioritize issuing fines—reportedly collecting a 30% commission from collections—over controlling traffic to avert such events.

SSP Traffic Qamar Hayat Khan said that trucks are prohibited from entering the city between 7 AM and 9 AM, prompting inquiries over how the dumper accessed the area during these restricted hours. The DPO of Abbottabad, Umar Tufail (PSP), promptly issued directives for stringent legal measures against the driver and the confiscation of the car.
