To combat anti-state propaganda, the PM establishes a special task force.
The action is said to follow the PTI demonstration in Islamabad on November 24, which saw the spread of strong anti-state narratives.
It will be led by the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The team includes key officers from the MI, ISI, FIA Cybercrime Wing, Intelligence Bureau, Islamabad Police, Ministry of Information, and Ministry of Interior.
The task force has ten days to present its conclusions and suggestions to the government, and it has been instructed to move quickly.
The government established the task group in an attempt to guarantee accountability and tackle the escalating issues brought about by disinformation and anti-state campaigns.
PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had earlier on November 27 declared that he would not tolerate any further sit-ins in Islamabad and that he would make tough decisions.
Speaking at a federal cabinet meeting, the prime minister mentioned the recent protest in the federal capital by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and stated that the group had been forced to reconsider after multiple marches on the capital.
We could no longer devote all of our resources and energies to it, which would have destroyed the economy; therefore, we had to take strong action to stop such scenes in the future, PM Shehbaz continued.
The PTI protest was described by Shehbaz Sharif as an attack on Islamabad, but he added that the police broke up the demonstration and helped the residents.
