The final meeting of the federal cabinet for 2024 will be held here today, Tuesday, to assess the political and economic state of the nation.

The cabinet meeting is set to begin at 5 p.m., and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to chair it, according to sources.

According to additional sources, the cabinet will also examine the nation’s security conditions as well as those along its eastern and western borders.

Two presidential ordinances, including the Societies Registration Amendment Ordinance pertaining to madrasa registration, were adopted by the cabinet on Friday. On Sunday, President Asif Zaradri signed the ordinance into law.

The Income Tax Ordinance, which intends to tax the additional Rs70 billion in profits made by banks, was also approved by the cabinet.
